Eric Boutilier - District 1
Brookside, Nova Scotia
Eric is serving his first term as Councillor for District 1. A lifelong resident of Colchester County, Eric is married to Janine, with children Benn (23) and Abby (21). Eric recently retired from the Chignecto Central Regional School Board where he has been both a teacher and Guidance Counsellor at several schools including 15 years at Bible Hill Junior High.
Eric coached soccer and fastball in the school board for many years, as well as hockey with the Truro and Area Minor Hockey Association. He has volunteered for the Nova Scotia Music Week, the Dutch Mason Blues Festival and the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling.
Eric was actively involved with the Nova Scotia Teachers Union, serving many roles including Colchester-East Hants Local President, Chignecto Central Regional Representative Chair and both First and Second Vice President of the provincial body of the NSTU. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Teachers Federation.
Eric has an A.Ed from NSTC, a B.Ed from Acadia University, M.Ed from Saint Mary's University and a M.Ed from Acadia University.
For his first term of Council, Eric has been appointed to serve on the Library Board, Dangerous and Unsightly Premises Committee, Flood Advisory and Sewer Use Appeals Committee. Eric looks forward to serving the people of District 1 and Colchester County.
About District 1
District 1 is primarily a populous urban centre. This district includes the western and northern regions of the Village of Bible Hill and Brookside.
This district is home to the Dalhousie University - Agricultural Campus, Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition and the Truro Raceway. In addition to these, District 1 has strong commercial areas to compliment its residential neighbourhoods.
Bounded on the north by the southern community boundaries of Upper Brookside and North River;
Bounded on the west by the eastern community boundary of North River. The line continues west along the northern boundary of the Village of Bible Hill to the Salmon River. The line then proceeds along the Salmon River;
Bounded on the south by the Salmon River until it intersects with a line that is an extension of the centreline of Hillside Avenue to the intersection of Pictou Road. The boundary travels along the centreline of Pictou Road east to civic number 311. The line then travels along the eastern property line of 311 Pictou Road and extends along that bearing to the northeast corner of lot 40 Oak Drive. The line then proceeds across the Agri-Tech property opposite civic 117 Brookside Branch. The boundary travels west along the centreline of Brookside Branch and extends past to the western community of Valley;
Bounded on the east by the western community boundary of Valley; and
Is comprised of a portion of the Communities of Brookside and Bible Hill.
