County Flood Advisory Committee
The County Flood Advisory Committee has been assisting local residents with flood repair and protection projects for over 22 years. Each year, the Committee provides technical and financial assistance to private property owners who have experienced damage to their property as a result of flooding. Residents of Colchester who may be experiencing the negative effects of flooding and who wish to obtain support from the Committee can review our Small Flood Damage Reduction Projects Policy (January 2019). If you would like to submit a request for flood work on your property, please fill out the pdf Request for Work Application Form (275 KB) and return to the Public Works Office in the Municipal Building.
Joint Flood Advisory Committee
A Joint Flood Advisory Committee was established in 2012 and is comprised of the Municipality of Colchester, Town of Truro and Millbrook First Nation. The Committee takes a regional approach in looking at larger scale projects that have an affect on all three units. Past projects have included areas on the North and Salmon Rivers and the McClures Brook.

Flood Risk Study
In 2013, the Joint Flood Advisory Committee issued a Request for Proposals for a comprehensive flood study in Truro and surrounding areas. CBCL Limited was tasked with reviewing historic data and reports, developing models of current and future events, identifying potential flood mitigation projects, proposing changes to existing policies and bylaws and identifying short/long term maintenance plans. The Study was developed over the course of four years and was finalized in February 2017.
