Notice of Intent - Second Reading Chapter 28 Land Lease Development By-law, Chapter 36 Commercial Dog Care Kennel Facility By-law, and Chapter 56 Wind Turbine Development By-law

Take Notice that the Council of the Municipality of the County of Colchester will consider Second Reading of proposed amendments to Chapter 28 Land Lease Development By-law, Chapter 36 Commercial Dog Care Kennel Facility By-law, and Chapter 56 Wind Turbine Development By-law, at the regularly scheduled Council meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025. This meeting will be held both virtually via Zoom Webinars and in-person at 1 Church Street, Truro, NS.

The proposed amendments to these By-laws are required due to the recently approved Colchester Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-law, and if approved, will ensure continued enforcement mechanisms for any existing permits or licenses granted under these By-laws.

The text of the proposed amendments to the By-laws may be inspected or a copy obtained at the Community Development Office, 1 Church Street, Truro, and is also available on the County's website at www.colchester.ca. Notice of Approval: Ainslee Lane, Valley

TAKE NOTICE that the council of the Municipality of the County of Colchester, at a hearing held on March 20, 2025, approved amendments to an existing Development Agreement on PID# 20331225, Ainslee Lane (Lot F1-2 - Private Lane) off Pictou Road, Valley. The requested amendments will permit developmetn of eight (8) accessory buildings (storage sheds).

 

The amendments to the development agreement may be inspected at the Community Development Office, County Court House, 1 Church Street, Truro, N.S. during regular business hours and are also posted on the Municipal website at Planning - Municipality of Colchester.

 

This decision may be appealed to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board within fourteen (14) days of the date of the publication of this notice.

Notice - Special Council Meeting March 20, 2025

A Special Session of Municipal Council of the Municipality of Colchester will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2024, beginning at 6:00 pm. This meeting will be conducted both in-person in Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 1 Church Street, Truro, and virtually via Zoom.

The purpose of this Special Session of Council is to conduct two Public Hearings and Second Readings to consider:

1. Amendments to the Central Colchester Land Use By-law (rezoning) of 149-151 Pictou Road PID 20440491; and,
2. Amendments to the existing Development Agreement on lands owned by 4584800 Nova Scotia Limited at Ainslie Lane (Private Lane) PID 20031225, Valley.

Public Hearing Notice for Plan It Colchester

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Municipality of Colchester will be holding a PUBLIC HEARING on THURSDAYMarch 27, 2025, at 6pm. It will be held in the Oak Room, Inn on Prince Truro, 437 Prince Street, Truro, NS

 

Council will consider the following at this Public Hearing:

Adoption of the Municipality of Colchester Draft Municipal Planning Strategy and Draft Land Use By-law. These documents will bring policy planning and zoning regulations into effect county-wide.

The Draft Municipal Planning Strategy and Draft Land Use By-law are posted on the Municipal website at www.colchester.ca/plan-it-colchester.  The documents may be obtained or inspected by interested persons at the Community Development Office, Municipality of Colchester building, 1 Church St., Truro, NS, during regular business hours. 

Any representation and/or written objections by interested persons concerning the planning documents may be made at this Public Hearing. Written comments may also be made in advance of the Hearing.
