The Municiplaity of Colchester is hiring a GIS Technician.
About the role: Reporting to the GIS / Property Information Supervisor in the Community Development department, this full-time (35 hours/week) permanent position is responsible for data input and maintenance, interactive digital and hard copy map production, and data analysis and geospatial app development and documentation. Working with Municipal GIS resources, in co-operation with other staff and members of the community, the GIS Technician assists with the management of property information and uses GIS technology to support other municipal departments.
Applicants must be knowledgeable of current industry techniques and technology and have demonstrated experience with the development of quality maps & web services, using Python scripts or Model Builder to develop Geoprocessing tools and automated tasks, and performing data analysis & Geodatabase management using Esri ArcGIS software products.
The GIS Technician also provides technical support to staff in all departments with our electronic permit management system. The GIS Technician will be responsible for writing SQL queries, updating and QA/QC of internal data, and maintaining shared map services. Occasional fieldwork for data collection outside of the office required.
Salary range: Range 5.1, $62,408- $72,374
