Bulky Item Collection

bulky itemsThis is a special collection of general household items that are too bulky for normal collection in a clear bag. You are permitted a maximum of two bulky items. They are to be placed within 10 feet of the road by 7:00am on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day. 

Only residential properties that are three units or less are eligible. In the Municipality of Colchester apartment buildings (four to six units) and non-profit organizations that have applied for residential curbside collection are eligible as well.

It is important to dispose of these types of products properly for the protection of the environment and our health. The drop off depot is a free service to residents of the Municipality of Colchester and the Towns of Truro and Stewiacke.

Holiday Tree collection BEGINS on January 14, 2025 and ENDS on January 24, 2025. To ensure your tree is collected, have trees out ON or BEFORE January 14, 2025. 

Towns of Truro & Stewiacke

Town of Truro - January 6 - 10, 2025

Town of Stewiacke - January 3, 2025

Ensure your tree is placed curbside before 7:00am.  

All trees must be visible (unburied), free of lights, decorations and stands. Trees must be debagged and NOT frozen to the ground to ensure collection.

Waste generated from home construction, renovation, roofing, or demolition projects will be accepted at the Balefill Facility at the appropriate disposal for a tipping fee. Please include the cost of disposal in all your home renovation plans.
